Have you ever wondered what your lawn REALLY needs? Most people get the Scotts Fertilizer and that is fantastic BUT, are you spending money on nutrients that your lawn does not really need? We can come out and do a soil sample and within 48 hours we will have results back to you, we will also give you a complete write up of our recommendations to you for your lawn.
If you are in need of fertilizer, we can refer you to our friend Scott over at The Turf Company, he is fantastic and he takes care of most of our clients.
So, let's break down the things your lawn should have and what those numbers are on your fertilizer back that you are picking up at Home Depot.
First Number - Nitrogen: Stimulates growth and helps make the lawn green, it helps promote chlorophyll which in turn allows the plants produce food for itself.
Second Number - Phosphorus: Promotes strong root growth. Without strong root growth, the slightest bit of erosion will take your lawn away.
Third Number - Potassium: Promotes resistance, so this will help the lawn sustain stress, some diseases and drought.
So, for example, if the bag of fertilizer you pick up says 15-15-30, this means there is 15% Nitrogen, 15% Phosphorus, and 30% Potassium. Yes, I am aware these numbers do not add up to 100%, and the reason for that is because the remainder is micronutrients (iron, magnesium, manganese, copper and sulfur), plus there is some impurities and fill (soil).
So, send us a message if you are interested in seeing exactly what your lawn needs. This Service ends once there is a week of frost.
