Katrina grew up on the North Shore right in Saugus, MA in the house that her father built. She grew up as the youngest of 3 children, she has 2 older brothers Matt Jr. and Josh. She went to school in Saugus from preschool all the way to 8th grade until she made the decision to leave the Saugus school system and attend Essex Agricultural and Technical High School in Hawthorne, MA.
When Katrina was growing up in Saugus, she played sports. She did horseback riding as well as owning her own horse, played soccer, softball and also played football for the Saugus Police League and was the quarterback! She was also the only girl on the team. She worked for her father laying floors since she was very little, when she turned 12 and got her work permit, she got her first "real" job working at Shaw's Supermarket in the floral department. Since she got this job at Shaw's doing floral arrangements, she has never left the green industry.
When Katrina got accepted to Essex Aggie, she had her heart set on being a vet, but during her freshman year when they had everyone try all the different majors, she fell in love with every part of the industry. She majored in Natural Resources where she learned every aspect of maintenance, some construction and got trained doing water and air testing. She played sports in high school as well, she continued riding horses of course, but also played softball and ultimate frisbee. She was also part of FFA, outing club and yearbook club.
The summer between her Junior and Senior year, she was accepted into the SCA (Student Conservation Association), where she would leave home for over a month, with no cell phone, no technology, nothing to keep in constant contact with her friends and family. Katrina was sent to Roan Mountain Tennessee to live on the side of the mountain in a cabin and she got to run the first all-female crew in SCA history to reconstruct 5 miles of the Appalachian Trail. This was the experience of a lifetime for Katrina, and she cherishes the memories she made fixing one of the most famous trails in the country. She graduated from the Aggie with a 3.8 GPA in June of 2007.
Just before Katrina graduated, she tried to join the Marines, she was unfortunately denied because of her history of Epilepsy, but Katrina doesn't go down easy. She took a break from trying to get into the military and Katrina went on to North Shore Community College to major in Horticulture with a double minor in business management and botany. She graduated in 2010 with her associates degree. After she completed North Shore, Katrina was ready to try and work with the military again, she was accepted into American Military Academy where she majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Juvenile Court Systems and Social Work. She graduated with an associate's degree. After that, in 2016, Katrina attended Penn State University for diesel mechanics. She left Penn State with her certification. In 2018 Katrina was accepted back into American Military Academy to study Counter Terrorism and Disaster Management.
In 2020 Katrina took a break from school to have her daughter and then fully focus on the business. Katrina is loving life with her family. Katrina and Mike got married on September 27th, 2024. Katrina has 3 children, her son Patrick (11), her daughter Kenna (4) and her "bonus" son Spencer (26), she also has a 9-year-old Australian Cattle Dog named Rebel.
